As a resident of a snowy, wintery state, we’ve fully embraced the snowbird lifestyle and developed a love for sunny Arizona in the winter. It’s mild, sunny, and easy to get to. Scottsdale is just twenty minutes away from the Phoenix International Airport, and it makes for a perfect escape when you need to get away for a few days.
This should be your number one reason if you’re like me and need to have a warm-weather destination to look forward to during winter. Scottsdale is great for US residents since it’s close and easily accessible, and it’s much milder than the rest of the country (pretty much anywhere, except Florida). There are ample sunny days, and plenty of ways to enjoy your time outdoors.
Scottsdale’s wide selection of beautiful hotels makes it that much more appealing. There are so many wonderful properties to choose from. Whether you’re looking for a golf/spa weekend, a wellness weekend, or a social scene, you can pretty much find it all in Scottsdale. Here’s a list of our favorite hotels in the area:
Arizona is known for its beautiful desert landscapes. And there are many ways you can enjoy your time outdoors during the winter. Scottsdale is a golf lovers paradise. While my other half enjoys the golf scene, I’m a big fan of luxury hotel pools, hiking, and just being in the presence of the desert!
The Architecture and Style
On a recent trip to Scottsdale, a local real estate agent told me that Real Estate is probably the biggest industry in the Phoenix area. If you have a passion for real estate and design, Scottsdale is an absolute paradise. The homes have impeccable design, desert charm, and are adorned with cacti. You’ll often find that many of the gated golf communities have open houses on weekends. Take the opportunity to explore and see some of the incredible homes if you can!
The healthy wave of restaurants has made it’s the way to Scottsdale. I learned from some local residents that this wasn’t quite the scene ten years ago, but in recent years Arizona has seen an increase in healthy, trendier restaurants. During our weekend getaways, we like to have a quick lunch so we can be out and explore, and enjoy a long dinner. True Food Kitchen The Henry, and Kale and Clover are some of our daytime favorites. For nighttime, the list is endless, but we love Omikase at Kodo Sushi or margs and a romantic dinner at The Mission .
