If you crave all things boho chic, a day trip to Tulum should be on your list. Between the unique hotels and the tranquil beach vibes, it’s an oasis that feels straight out of a magazine. But it can be real life, even if just for a day.
I’ve had the opportunity to head down to Playa Del Carmen a few times now, and on two of those occasions, I was able to take a day trip to Tulum. While I hope my next opportunity lends itself to a dedicated Tulum trip, I will take every chance I can get to spend there even if just for the day.
Planning a day trip to Tulum
How to get to Tulum:
If you’re staying in nearby Cancun or Playa Del Carmen, get in touch with your hotel so they can organize transportation for you. I opted for a private full day cab that was managed by my hotel. I paid in pesos which allowed for a bit of a discount. Including gratuities, it cost about $200 for the day, which was well worth it. Tulum is about an hour from Playa Del Carmen and one and a half hours from Cancun.
If you’re staying in Tulum, speak with your hotel as it’s likely they’ll help organize transportation to and from Cancun International Airport, which is the most convenient airport to fly into.
